There has been far too much sugar around here this weekend.
Yesterday Katie was 12.
There was a chocolate cake with chocolates.
There was a jigsaw showing sweets and chocolates from the 80s .
And there were; two giant bars of Cadbury Dairy milk, a large Aero bar, a Toblerone, a huge bar of Galaxy, a box of Maltesers, a tube of Rolos , a big bag of chocolate buttons, and that was just for starters.
And today is Mothering Sunday which means just one thing; chocolate for breakfast.
Katie and I will be spending the rest of the weekend lying down.

ReplyDeleteI feel your pain ... youngest daughter has bought me a pile of Green and Black's bars and eldest daughter made a chocolate shortbread cake. (The two boys on the other hand are all but comatose having spent last night celebrating St. Patrick's Day and the Welsh Rugby Grand slam with rather too much Guinness!)

DeleteChildren are able for that level of chocolate consumption whereas adults just falter and fail only half way through the second giant bar.

Weekend chocolates (the jigsaw reminded me) used to be my absolute favourites - I loved them dearly, studied their advertisements minutely, and was inconsolable when they ceased to be available.

ReplyDeleteGlad to know that other households follow the time old tradition of chocolate breakfasts on Mother's Day. We also follow this tradition at Easter, on Father's Day, on Birthdays and well any day we get the chance of a lie-in! Must be washed down with a nice cup of coffee too though!

Chocolate for breakfast! I'd have loved that. We have a split over the chocolate issue in this house. My oldest and youngest don't really go for chocolate - they're still working their way through the Christmas stash, and we all know not to bother getting any for Mr PC. Middle had finished all hers by boxing day and would love that jigsaw puzzle to keep her going between festivals!

ReplyDeleteI could almost smell the chocolate whilst I was reading this. Love the jigsaw and will definitely have a look on Amazon. I collected sweet wrappers in the 80s for a typography project I did at Poly - this really takes me back!
