This is Simmer Dim by Gudrun Johnston. Inspired by Ali and by my success at sock knitting I decided to try a shawl. I found it an easy and quick knit, ideal for a beginner which is what I consider myself to be. I think if you can knit and purl and keep an even tension you should have no trouble knitting this. Having said that there were several things which were new to me; knitting with circular needles (easy), lace, picot cast offs, yarn overs, slip slip knits, and constructing a triangle. Ali said 'Youtube is your friend' and she was right. Youtube has a tutorial, and in many cases several, for every single knitting technique you might need.
My lovely soft yarn is from Jill Draper Makes Stuff and is 80% merino, 10% cashmere and 10% nylon. I bought it from the lovely Anj at Meadow Yarn.
I'm now beginning to think of myself as a knitter as well as a crocheter. I'm also beginning to wonder if I might not like knitting a little bit more than crocheting!
Now, what shall I knit next?
